C.Nichole – “LOVE” (Lyric Video)

“LOVE” Lyric Video shoot Fun Facts:

We shot “LOVE” directly after “GHETTO” on the same day in November 2020. Each shoot only took 1 hour. I wanted to go back to my R&B love song roots, emphasizing #BlackLove, so I wanted to shine a light on marriages of African descent. We shot at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden as soon as they opened, and no one disturbed the shoot at all. So grateful. My outfit only costed 25 USD. I got it from the place I shop at when I want to be fashionable while traveling within Muslim countries. Plus, I wanted to try a different wedding dress style and show that there is beauty within modesty. Sunflowers were chosen as the bouquet because I don’t like real flowers, but something about sunflowers are okay with me. But all-in-all, R.I.P. to my grandmother. I was wearing one of her anniversary rings. She was a fan of big flashy diamonds.

“KING” – Lyric Breakdown

With songwriting, you have the power to positively or negatively subconsciously influence those who listen to music. I’ve always had a way with words and chosen to write in a way that gets people to think. “KING” off the EP, Pan African Think Tank Vol. 1, was indeed a song that I wanted to use to do the opposite of what the music industry, and even the media, would want to be done regarding the portrayal of men of African descent. This is my breakdown behind the lyrics of “KING”…

Travel 2 Unseen Africa

I joined the luxury travel agency, Luxika Africa, to talk about traveling to Africa. As a traveler, the African continent isn’t a place where the masses travel to, so I never get tired talking about my personal experiences that I’ve had while there. Listen to my episode 1:1 With A Pan African Traveler to hear my stories, my advice, and my ventures that deal with Africa and Pan Africanism.

C.Nichole – “KING”

“KING” was originally going to be about how men of African are superheroes and the world knows what they’re capable of, and that’s why they face so much adversity. I got the beat by GHSTKNTE and started to dislike that idea. It felt too negative to me. So I decided to flip all the negative things that I’ve heard and seen men of African descent go through and turn it into something positive. I keep pages of random lyrics that pop in my head, and one line said, “You shine so bright even in the night.” That lyric popped off the writing of “KING” while still intertwining some of my superhero thoughts, which is why I mention the TV show Black Lightning. I loved that show; I hate it ended. Anywho, sometimes I’m still amazed by the lyrics I write in terms of storytelling. But what really made this song even more special was shooting it in Togo, West Africa. Yoss Spencer and Khaled were amazing! They really made my vision come to life. You’d never know that I was 10 feet off the ground trying to balance myself on the boat, or the fact that we had to hike to get to the waterfall and I was sweating like crazy, or that I was sniffing like crazy because I was in-between sicknesses and my head was hurting. But I knew I flew too far not to put my best foot forward. The song is meaningful, and the video is beautiful. For those who’ve been to Togo, they already know what I’m talking about. But if you’ve never been to Togo, push play and explore…

“PAN AFRICAN THINK TANK VOL. 1” Is Here!

Yes, I have another project with more volumes to come out with (Christin SanDiego), but I wanted to do another one at the same time! The “PAN AFRICAN THINK TANK” volumes were born out of necessity. I needed to find a way to get the non-profit, Pan African Think Tank, out there more, so I figured why not implement the music. I teamed up with a talented producer out of Jamaica, GHSTKNTE, to bring this project to life. I am really proud of the outcome, secure in my voice, boastful about my songwriting, and pleased with mix and master by none other than Shawn, my trustee engineer. Make sure to listen, and I mean thoroughly listen to the lyrics, and SHARE!
