Christmas Gifts
Christmas means a lot of things to many different people. Most people I know see Christmas as the birth of baby Jesus. I’m not going to go into the religion thing because many believe that Jesus was not really born on December 25th, and I haven’t got to the New Testament in my Bible readings…so yeah. No, not going there lol. But, the point of this blog post is to talk about Christmas gifts. I used to laugh and think people were stupid for losing out on sleep looking all over for Christmas gifts for their children. Children’s parents should just explain to their kids that since their parents did the shopping too late, they aren’t going to get the gifts that were written on their list to “Santa”. Yeah Santa and Jesus in the same holiday just don’t even go together but whatever. Lol. As I digress, maybe it isn’t stupid at all…only if the kid deserves it. My eldest nephew told me about this Crayola Marker Airbrush Sprayer that he wanted. His mom, my older sister, told me he didn’t need it. My eldest nephew is the only kid that I can say that hasn’t ever given me trouble, even though his mother thinks I’m lying lol. But I don’t mind going out of my way for him. What I didn’t know was that this one thing was going to be the hardest thing to find. I looked everywhere online and it kept saying it was sold-out and you can only buy it in the store. Looked at the stores and most of them were so far from me. So I paid for a store pick-up at Wal-Mart in the country, since I’m out here working on a film out here in the boonies anyway lol. The city Wal-Marts were not giving me a chance at all lol. However, I get an email late at night saying that basically they thought they had it but they didn’t. I started feeling bad because this was the only thing my nephew asked me for. I started thinking of master plans, deciding that yeah I’ll drive wherever I have to drive within a 50 mile radius in order to find it. I gave Wal-Mart one more chance and found another store that was 25-30 minutes away from where I was and lo and behold…they had it! So yes, all of my kiddos will be having a Merry Christmas thanks to the best Auntie and God-Mommie ever! ☺ But what I will not do is fight over gifts. I have more integrity than that. I would just have to let them know what the deal was and give them two gifts of something else instead of the one that they wanted. I understand that Christmas is not supposed to be about gifts, but that’s how kids look at it, so hey, is it what it is. Since the kids are happy, I’m happy…that is my gift. But once you hit 16, you can wrap the gift giving up…you’re too grown for that.
