Music and Songwriting: Education Interferes with Music; and London, England

I started Fall 2009 as a sophomore. I no longer had time to record music. I barely had time to write music. I had start joining organizations on campus, was consumed with reuniting with this one guy that I had dated back in high school and still taking my usual 18 hrs. Spring 2010 I decided to add two minors to my degree plan, so once again…more school. I was gearing up to go to school in London for Summer 2010, so I didn’t mind the extra work that I was putting in. I started spending more time blogging, vlogging, YouTubing, Facebooking and making/editing family videos. Not to mention that the guy who I had once fallen in love with was trying to get on my good side again. A few weeks before my 19th birthday, I ended up giving him a 2nd chance, but not so blindly as before. Of course my songwriting game increased just a little with him. May 14th, 2010 I landed in London, England, UK. Before the airplanes wheels even touched down; just by looking out the airplane’s window, I had instantly fell in love with the city of London. But London provided a gift and a curse. I was extremely elated in London no matter what happened. My boyfriend and I were having major ridiculous problems, and I being across the seas didn’t help. Come to find out was that he was falling in love with me, which made him act out of character because he was “scared” lol. Funny thing is, I hardly wrote about them. All I had to do was walk outside and it was over, I didn’t care, I was happy…I didn’t write, I didn’t write, I didn’t write and I didn’t write. I did get to attend a BMI Showcase and got a chance to network. All of the labels were around the corner from my house so I visited those as well. I got to see my then favorite handsome boy band, FDM perform, and chatted with them. I hate that they broke up, but I still support their solo careers just as much (Jermaine Riley, Varren Wade, and I haven’t heard anything from Kyle). As I digress, I saw “Wicked” while I was there and instantly thought about writing for plays and movies. I no longer wanted to just write for people’s albums. I also developed just an overall appreciation for all of their art there. My friend, Chris Blaze (C-Blaza), showed me around a little and introduced me to some people that did music. He invited me to a showcase as well. I just suddenly took interest in the way UK music is done vs. US music. The end of June was approaching and inside I was kicking and screaming like a child. I did not want to return to the States by any means. I wanted to elope with London.
