Vampire Weekend :D
They are my favorite Alternative/Rock band. I don’t think they fit in a specific genre but that’s what ‘people’ classify them as. They have great lyrically metaphoric stories. The use of all the different types of instruments from different types of drums, guitars, pianos, violins; they just make it all work. The lead singer, Ezra Koenig, has an amazing voice. It’s so soft and it just flows. He’s also a cutie as well. Lol. But seriously, these guys, it’s four of them, have two great albums and I know they have plenty more to come. They are going to be the next concert that I attend because I just have to see them! But I’m going to discuss some of my favorite songs by them. Be sure to check them out. You won’t be disappointed unless you do like to listen to a variety of music. 1st Album: Vampire Weekend
♫Oxford Comma♫
Reason: The melody for the verses is catchy and creative especially how the singer notes change throughout the end of each of the lines.
Favorite Lyrics: ♪Why would you lie about how much coal you have?/Why would you lie about something dumb like that?/Why would you lie about anything at all?/First the window, then it’s to the wall/Lil’ Jon, he always tells the truth♪
♫Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa♫
Reason: The beat to the song just reminds me of skipping down in Los Angeles or London on a sunny day. It gives off a happy feeling.
Favorite Melody: ♪Like you know I dooooooooooooo/Dooooooooo♪
2nd Album: Contra
♫Horchata♫
Reason: The whole song just reminds me of the winter time. It just makes me smile when I hear it. The beat builds so nicely around the bridge. I especially love that xylophone that’s playing in the song. It kind of reminds me of something that will be in the lion king with those congas playing. Lol

♫California English♫
Reason: The singer sings the words so fast also in a very creative melody. The song just makes me want to the wave with myself over and over like a dance move. Lol.
Favorite Lyrics & Melody: ♪Wouldn’t ever gag you with a spoon, my only true love/Never really heard you speak that way, it’s unworthy of…/Funny how that little college girl called language corrupt/Funny how the other private schools had no Hapa Club/Someone took a trip before you came to ski in the Alps/Your father moved across the country/Just to sunburn his scalp/Contra Costa, Contra Mundum, contradict what I say/Living like the French Connection, but we’ll die in LA♪
♫Taxi Cab♫
Reason: This was one of their mellow songs so it gave a different feel to the album; they can do upbeat and downbeat songs and they do them well.

♫Diplomat’s Son♫
Reason: I feel like doing my own type of Salsa inspired dance when this song comes on. Lol. It’s just a feel good song. It sounds like it has some Jamaican instrument influences as well.
Favorite Lyrics: ♪Cuz I’m gonna cut it where I can/And then I’m gonna duck out behind them/If I ever had a chance it’s now then/But I never had the feeling I could offer that to you/To offer it to you would be cruel/When all I want to do is use, use you♪
