What Do You Desire?
I was driving down the highway when I figured I’d give a listen to Cheryl’s latest album “Only Human”. The intro was this man (Alan Watts audio below) talking about how he suggests that you find out what you’d want to do in life if money was no object. Basically if money is the reason behind everything that you do, then you’ll never actually live life. I was like, “Yessss! He gets me.” Lol. Yes, we need money to survive and cover our basic needs, but it comes to a point when you must sit back and observe the situation that you’re in and everything that’s going on around you. If you’ve lost your passion for something, don’t understand what you’re doing, or how you got to where you’re at…something’s wrong. You can only be truly happy if you’re doing something that makes you happy. Fine, you work a 9-5…but what are you doing after that, or on the weekends. Don’t ever lose that excitement you had for something, regardless if it made you money or not. When everything becomes solely about the money, then your life is no longer your own; money rules your life and you’re just a slave to it. Of course people are going to look at you like you’re crazy for doing things that you love just for the heck of it. It’s because they’re not doing it themselves, they’re envious, or they are straight-up clueless. Don’t become a zombie to the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and only doing things that people and/or society tells you that you need to do. Do what you desire. Live life to the fullest. Be happy…no, like genuinely happy.
