Just Get a Diary

Just Get a Diary

This young man named Drake (Aubrey Graham) used to jam! Back in his mixtape days before we got bombarded by him, just like his friend Trey Songz (but that’s another story), he was rapping about ‘real’ stuff, and even got better with his lyrics. Now I’m confused? He didn’t start talking in long syllables (because he can’t sing live…Pro-Tools) until the mixtape that included the song “Brand New”. But now that he’s ‘singing’, his lyrics are becoming like a singer’s. He needs to pick if he’s going to rap about life and what not or choose to ‘sing’ and lyrics be full of stories from young ladies he was once with but isn’t with them anymore because of his mistakes, or because he wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s that young man in high school that everyone knew was a sweetheart but tried to play hard and lost some good girls in the end and ended up alone. The relationship he spoke of with singer Keshia Chante, it’s understandable, they were young, and he wanted to speak about it on his song “Deceiving” like any high school aged adolescent would do via Facebook. Then there is “Bria Interlude” which came out a while ago. I was expecting this to be the last time. Bria Myles is a cute young lady with a huge ass of course (Drake’s specialty) and models for men magazines. Then we have the “CeCe Interlude” which is supposed to be about a college girl that goes to school in Texas. I bet a million dollars she has a huge ass and is on her way to men magazines. I know plenty of college girls that are in the process of getting their degrees and are very smart, but college debt doesn’t pay the bills so I wouldn’t put it past her. Shall I mention the line he put in verse 2 in the song “Fireworks” about Rihanna; he is a hopeless romantic. We don’t even have to get into the plethora of songs where he has lines or even verses dedicated to women (men’s magazine models, strippers, video ‘vixens’ [whores], singers, and maybe a FEW respectable women) that weren’t good enough to get their own song I’m guessing; from “Karaoke” to “Miss Me” (Maliah Michel was mentioned and landed her way into the “Find Your Love” Video) to “The Resistance”…etc! But I’ll tell you what put me over the edge…his horrid verse addition to Rick Ross’ “Aston Martin Music” video. What made it so horrid was the fact that he renamed it “Paris Morton Music”. Honestly, this is getting old. Obviously Drake doesn’t know how to pick women that will stay with him for him, or he can’t step up to the plate and be a real man to give these women what they are looking for. Yes, he is young and famous and 9 times out of 10, still ‘playing the game’. But play the game on your own time and tell your friends. Yes I know artist let their fans into their lives but he is becoming that annoying friend we just want to tell to shut up because these problems are repetitive. If he changes the cause, he can change the effect, and I don’t have to hear his heartbreak love stories every time one of his songs comes on. 😀

P.S. And you only like Nicki Minaj because she has a huge ass and a nice face…You’ll fall for almost anyone like that. If my older sister wasn’t dating anyone I’d introduce you to her and I’m sure she’ll end up in a song.

  • Let the man make his music…Just because its keeps repeating in his life doesn't mean its fresh to others. I mean someone get inspiration from his work. The ladies of his past serve as muses and provide enriched experience to remind others that no one is perfect. Its refreshing to hear that rather than Young Jeezy rap about Obama or Paul Wall rapping about What it Dew.

I like Nicki Minaj personally because of her music. I was listening to her way before I knew what she actually looked like. Her looks are a plus but talent is what got her where she was at. Otherwise every girl with a big behind and good looks would have a record deal which is not the case.

Maybe you should do a song or an album or poetry and see if you keep coming up with the same issue or area. I would listen/read.

This is a great blog post. It opened my eyes and ears up to remind me of why I listen to "Wheelchair Jimmy."
