Music and Songwriting: Let’s Get On With Life Already
Spring 2011 became the busiest semester of my life. I got my record label internship and got a part-time job on campus. I started dating. I was prevalent in my organizations and made every meeting. I still took 18 hrs. and snuck songwriting in there somewhere. I spent time getting prepared for Ghana paperwork wise and medically (shots, pills). I ended up revamping a music show on my school’s network and got heavily involved with broadcast/filming. Did I mention I became a shopaholic and got into fashion like never before and blogged like it was a job? That left me no time to sit and ponder on Fall 2010 and I was glad! So many great things were happening in my life. Summer 2011 consisted of summer classes and studying abroad in Ghana. Fall 2011 consisted of wrapping school up and entering life. I took the Fall as a relaxation time for myself. I found myself staying alone a lot and visiting family a lot, seeing that a new nephew had just been born. I started working with a new producer, Crown Jones, as far as team projects went. I had took the GMAT and sent out some applications, but just had enough of school. My brain was fried. I was planning to move back to L.A. to market for a label or movies. Ultimately I just really wanted not to work and just do what I love. 2012 came around and I started two companies with my brother. I spent the first half of 2012 getting companies in order. I had a new guy that I previously mention in the semester of Fall 2009 when we became reunited…well we reunited for real this time, so I spent time with him either in person or on Skype. I wrote, directed, produced, edited and scored a short film with my brother as the main actor since he wants to be an actor. Doing my own short film was something that I had always wanted to do. I started web designing and started back designing clothes. Instead of dusting off my sketch book from 2003-2007, I just simply used Photoshop. Oh how one must love the new age of technology. I had reached about 1,450 songs that I had written, all copyrighted of course. I had at least 1 and a half albums worth of songwriting demos. I visited Toronto for my 21st birthday and decided that by 2015 I want to be living there, since I would need to get my money up in order to move back to London, especially in the area I stayed in when I was going to school there. But my love for UK artist, especially UK R&B increased tremendously and it came by surprise. By Summer 2012 I looked up and that was all I was really playing; Jessie Ware, Rebecca Ferguson, JLS, SBTRKT, Jermaine Riley, etc. The only goal that was at the top of my list was: Getting songwriting management in the UK. I must write for UK artist.
