SBTRKT + Sampha & Ishi At The Palladium Ballroom In Dallas
I haven’t attended any concerts in a while so I figured it was time to change that, since I am such a big fan of music. I found out that SBTRKT was coming back to North America and I got tickets ASAP. This was the first concert I attended with both of my younger siblings so it made it even better. We were the first ones in line because I love the front row during standing concerts. Ishi was the first to perform and OMGEE, the lead singer is awesome because his dance moves were amazing! He was shuffling, humping the floor, pelvic thrusting, running manning it, robot pop locking it…just everything in the book! The other vocalist, who was a young lady, was great; her vocals were on point! The drummer, which resembles Lex Luthor, was crazy amazing! The guitarist was also great; I’m officially a fan. The second act consisted of a house-type DJ. I didn’t realize he was the second opening act until he had been dj-ing for over 30mins. I’m used to concerts playing music in between acts, but then realized he was an act! Lol. Eventually SBTRKT and Sampha came to the stage. Can you say EPICNESS! #1, I like Dubstep, always have. #2 Dubstep musicians from Europe have more of a foundation with dub-step and are simply better than dubstep musicians in North America. #3 SBTRKT’s album and EP were just full of awesomeness. Seeing how the much comes along with all the musical and technical machines right there live was a sight to see. Both of these men are very talented and skilled. The audience was lovely as well because they weren’t over the top drunk crazy, but they weren’t chillin’ either; I guess it was along the lines of hippyism (yes, I made that word up). The guy behind me was in another world. It’s like he took some ecstasy before the show but I know he didn’t, he just got into a groove once SBTRKT came to the stage. When my favorite songs off the album and EP were performed, I was gone! You would have thought I was a hippie. I’ve never taken any drug party pills of any sort, but I’m guessing that was what it was supposed to feel like. Great instrumental music just puts me in a zone. While they were performing and the lights were flashing I made a joke to my little sister, I stared into the lights while dancing and said “Ohhh take me now the lights are so bright.” Lmao! But I finally got to see SBTRKT’s face; we all got to see him for him! Lol! I do feel that his mask collection is artistic. I really enjoyed that Sampha sounds exactly like he does on record…now that’s what I pay money for! But overall my siblings and I enjoyed ourselves…great night!
